
Commission shall be calculated against the net photographic fee, i.e., the photographic fee exclusive of expenses chargeable to the client. In the event that a "flat fee" shall be set, the net photographic fee shall be that remaining after actual expenses directly relating to the specific job have been deducted.
Expenses
Naturally a representative receives no commissions on expenses normally charged to the client above the photographer's fee in billing, i.e., props, models, travel, messengers, set construction, film and processing, studio and equipment rentals.
Active Account
An account is an Active Account when it generates assignments currently; it is either a product worked upon, or an art director worked with, or the original buyer for whom assignments have been initiated. An account may be a single order or a continuing campaign. Upon the the initiation of an assignment of any sort, oral or written, which constitutes an order for work, an account becomes active.
House Accounts
House Accounts are primarily those accounts with which the photographer has been working prior to his relationship with the new representative. They are not commissionable.

Contacts, Leads, Referrals, Tips
Bona fide information about a qualified prospect (name, title/position, company, telephone, account/project, wants, or the photographic problem that needs solving) that results in an assignment.

A recommendation to a prospect to use my photographic services -

or outside the business, company, or organization where you are employed -

Assignment Representative
The primary function of an agent or representative ("rep") is to secure assignment work for the photographer. The photographer's relationship with his agent should be established in a written agreement.
